No Farmer’s Wife (2025)
Wax, bitter chocolate (“gentleman’s chocolate”), food dye, moissanite, metal.
The smell of rich chocolate lingers in the room.
The black panels, inspired by an abstract satellite image of farmland, compel visitors to lie down on the floor or kneel so that they can peek under the small, tilted cottage. There, they will find the sparkle of an engagement ring in a jewellery box made from Herrenschokolade.
Like a trap, the little house could slam shut and pinch the finger that greedily reaches beneath it.
Herrenschokolade is a traditional German term for dark chocolate with a high cocoa content and low sugar, marketed gender specific towards men.
